The Illinois Receivership Act (765 ILCS 1090) took effect January 1, 2026. It is a statutory framework for commercial receiverships that functions, in practice, like a mini-bankruptcy: collect, manage, conserve, operate. Cook County still appoints receivers on distressed files — including in July 2026 foreclosure disputes reported by The Real Deal.
